Marvel Reviews: Part 1

Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America: The First Avenger spoiler free review.

Today I will be doing a spoiler-free review of Captain America: The First Avenger.

This movie has its fair share of action, without going over the top, which is clearly a more story-based movie. The cinematography was pretty solid, but again, not over the top in moments that didn’t need it. Captain America has always been one of my favorite Avengers and nothing changed here. His origin story is very unique and his journey to becoming an Avenger is very strong.

Chris Evans plays the role of Steve Rodgers very well as kind of a scared kid, but he wants to prove himself. Red Skull is the villain in this one, and honestly, I was never drawn to him. His actions make sense as he’s leading the nazis in World War II. However, whenever he was on screen I was never very attached, unlike when Steve or his interest Peggy was on screen, I was fully engaged.

When I watch a movie I rate it out of 10 aspects of the movie. I rate it by the action, acting, cinematography, pacing, score, characters, ending, plot, protagonist, and antagonist. I rate each of those things out of 10 and then in total, it will add up to something out of 100. This movie I had rated as a 68/100, it is a solid movie and this is a solid ranking. The antagonist, score, and some of the acting throughout the movie brought the rating down for me. However, this is still a solid and fun movie to watch, with good action, cinematography, and a great protagonist.
