Veterans Day program
On Wednesday, November 8th, Greater Nanticoke Area honored Veterans, past and present, with an hour long ceremony. The ceremony featured performances by GNA’s Band and District Chorus, two speakers (Captain Jeffrey Homza and Steve Biernacki), a presentation of colors, and a sing along of “Proud to be an American” to close the ceremony.
The band, conducted by Dr. Bunnell, played “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “This is my Country,” “God Bless America,” and “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Captain Homza went up to speak after the presentation of colors and the National Anthem. Captain Homza is a combat veteran who saw service in distinguished theaters such as Operation Iraqi Freedom. In his well written speech, Captain Homza honored our Veterans and accentuated the sacrifice that they make daily. Steve Biernacki was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and earned two Bronze Stars during his tour of duty. Biernacki also had an excellent speech which honored this country’s veterans. Both speakers answered questions about their experience in the military.
