The Nanticoke Area Trojanettes softball team is athletic and versatile. Most of the girls on the team are capable of playing many different positions. Since we are going to have such a skilled group this season, we are going to be able to take more chances and attempt to pressure our opponents. Having early leads, a strong defense, and making solid hits will be a key part of winning the season. This season, we are going to work and focus on teamwork, communication, confidence, and leadership.

Our team has a large amount of returning players this season. Our infield is in need of a second baseman and a third baseman, along with a catcher, but we have many players coming up who could play those positions and execute them well. Jillann Baron is going to do great things for us on first base, along with Miranda Bohn on the mound, and Gabby Rakowski on shortstop. Being that our team is extremely flexible, we could put many players in different positions. Brinley Sobeck, a three year starter, is one of our players who can play multiple positions and play extremely well in each of them. Based on the way our last season went, it is clear that we have many options for players in all positions.

Last year, we had four seniors and losing them is going to greatly impact our team. In the four years that Jenna Lipowski played for the Trojanettes, she hit over thirty home runs and was awarded player of the year in both 2015 and 2017. Jenna was also a three time all-state player. She was a four year starter and is now attending Kutztown, along with another one of last season’s seniors, Kiera Brown. Kiera, a three year starter, did great things for our team. Cassie Novakowski was also a three year starter who was an extremely strong player. Lastly, Morgan Briggs, our catcher and a three year starter. She has a great attitude. No matter what, she was always trying to make herself a better player. Morgan now attends the University of Scranton.

Our overall record last season was 18-2. We went 13-0 in the conference, making us the conference champions. Two seasons previous, we tied for first in the conference and lost the tiebreaker game. In 2015, we won the district championship. Last season, Miranda Bohn was the Co-MVP of Division 2. Based on the way things have ended in previous seasons, I believe we are going to have a pretty solid team.
