College Football Playoff rankings for week 12.

Even though the snow is starting to fall across the country, it is not enough to cause an avalanche on to the College Football Playoff rankings this week. The top four teams won convincingly, each team winning by twenty or more points. The top ten teams did not change. That was the first time in the College Football Playoff era where the top ten teams did not change. This week was a calm one with seven ranked teams losing. So what have we learned from this week? That Alabama keeps rolling, Northwestern is in the big 10 championship game, the PAC 12 south is a circus, Arkansas football is a comedy show and that the avalanche will occur in the coming weeks. A few teams dropped from the rankings entirely. Those teams were Auburn, Fresno State, Iowa, Michigan State and North Carolina State. Boise State, Cincinnati, Utah State, Utah and Northwestern entered the new rankings. Here is full coverage of the new rankings.

1: Alabama

My goodness! I am shocked! How on Earth did this happen? No not that the Crimson Tide are number one again, but how no team can challenge them. The Tide drove past number 16 Mississippi State. Alabama has shut out two SEC foes in a row. They beat the bulldogs 24-0. Heisman ready quarterback, Tagovailoa aggravated his knee again this week. He is expected to play against the Citadel. The paragraph is short because we are running out of words to say. Can anything stop the Tide before they sweep the National Championship?

2: Clemson

Some could say Clemson won because of the injury to Boston College quarterback Anthony Brown, others would say that idea is preposterous. We might not know the answer but we do know that Clemson is still ranked two after defeating number 17 Boston College 27-7. The tiger’s defense did not allow the Eagle’s offense to score a single point. A BC punt return touchdown was their only points. Clemson will face an underrated Duke team this Saturday. With a spot in the ACC title game already clinched. Clemson is in control of their destiny.

3: Notre Dame

Notre Dame keeps the number three spot. Without starting quarterback Ian Book, The Irish steamrolled Florida State 42-13. Notre Dame is now 10-0, and facing number 12 Syracuse on Saturday. This is possibly the last hurdle and chance for the Irish to impress the committee; unless the disappointing USC Trojans can pull of an upset. Notre Dame is given a 75% chance to win that game. Chances are that Ian Book will play in this ranked team match-up.

   4: Michigan

Michigan holds on to the fourth spot. The wolverines looked impressive against Rutgers, then again, everyone looks dominate against Rutgers. Michigan walloped the scarlet knights 42-7. Shea Patterson threw for three touchdowns and for 260 yards. With the old rival buckeyes around the corner, Michigan and Ohio State will play for a spot in the big 10 championship and a playoff spot. Michigan cannot look past a sneaky Indiana team that they face this Saturday. The Hoosiers have not defeated Michigan since 1987. Could Michigan be on upset alert this week? Probably not.
